PRESS RELEASE LOCAL 10 IBEW 932 Transmission Project

Hornell, NY

Recently Class 31- and 36-line apprentice travelled from their normal training facility to
the reconstruction project of the 932 115 kv transmission line. These Line Mechanics
are currently in the 6th level of their apprenticeship which includes focus on electrical
transmission lines.

Advanced training opportunities were arranged between Local 10 IBEW and the
Company to provide hands-on training for the two classes. This project is a New York
State Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act Project (CLCPA) that is
replacing “H” frame structures that are overdue for replacement or require greater
conductor height. Working together, Lead Line Mechanic Jared Maker and Lead
Training Co-Ordinator Matt Holbert facilitated this labor/management collaboration to
provide real world experience to trainees.

The 932 Transmission project is a carve out of a larger CLCPA venture that provided
Local 10 IBEW members with the ability to work a transmission construction job.
Involving 66 wood structures over 15 miles all off road. 59 “H” frames will be replaced,
new hardware and insulators installed. Our fully qualified Local 10 IBEW Line
Mechanics from the Elmira and Hornell Divisions are participating daily and making
great progress.

Getting larger construction work from the contractors has been a goal of Local 10 IBEW
and I thank the Line Mechanics that are performing this most challenging work showing
our employer that we can do the work efficiently and be cost effective for our customers.
More good news, another progression class of apprentices are scheduled to participate
in the 932 Construction Project starting in March 2026. Great job Local 10 IBEW!
